These short notes are provided as setup instructions for freelancers and external suppliers who are unable to use GreenLight for Quarto when exporting print and proof PDFs.
The print settings for Quarto are automatically added and used by GreenLight but to use them outside of GreenLight please download the zipped settings file here.
Unzip the folder to see the PDF settings and Color Settings folders
Adobe PDF settings are saved as small data files named job options. The PDF settings job options file for Quarto is named Quarto_2022_PDFX4_Preset.joboptions.
Once downloaded, the job options file can be loaded into InDesign using the InDesign File menu > Adobe PDF Presets > Define…
Click the Load button and choose the Quarto_2022_PDFX4_Preset file
Color settings are saved as small ICC files.
The two color settings uses by Quarto are named PSOcoated_v3.icc and PSOuncoated_v3_FOGRA52.icc
Once downloaded, the color settings can be loaded into InDesign by moving the ICC files to the folder Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/ on the Mac.
This folder may require an admin password before allowing files to be added, see more info here.
For PC users, the location to placed the ICC files may vary depending on Windows OS.

Once loaded, the Quarto PDF preset Quarto_2022_PDFX4_Preset is available for selecting when exporting print and proof PDFs.
Adjust the pages and spreads to be output in the Pages section as required.
When exporting outside of GreenLight, please be aware that you are responsible for setting the correct colour settings.
For coated paper, use the output destination PSO Coated v3
For uncoated paper, use the output destination
PSO Uncoated v3 (Fogra 52)
